Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whip egg whites until frothy; gradually add granulated sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
- Sift almond flour and confectioners' sugar together in another bowl; gently fold the dry mixture into the meringue until fully combined.
- Divide batter into three bowls, leaving one uncolored; add red and blue food coloring to the respective bowls until desired shades are achieved.
- Transfer each colored batter into piping bags fitted with round tips. Pipe small circles onto prepared baking sheets.
- Let piped macarons rest for about 30 minutes until they form a skin on top before baking for 15-18 minutes.
- Allow macarons to cool completely before filling them with buttercream frosting.
