- 4 medium Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes (about 1.5 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Slice the potatoes into 1/8-inch thick rounds.
- In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat, sauté the onion until translucent, then add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish, sprinkling salt, pepper, and some sautéed onions and garlic between layers. Pour half of the cream over the top.
- Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, seasonings, onions, garlic, and finish with the rest of the cream and cheddar cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for one hour. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
