Description

Milk bread is a delightful, fluffy loaf that envelops your senses with its warm, buttery aroma. This soft, slightly sweet bread is perfect for toast, sandwiches, or simply enjoying on its own. With this easy recipe, you’ll create cherished memories in the kitchen while filling your home with the comforting scent of freshly baked bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (500g)
  • 1 cup whole milk (240ml)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50g)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (7g)
  • 1 tsp salt (6g)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (60g)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture along with melted butter.
  3. Mix until forming a shaggy dough, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf by flattening and rolling tightly.
  6. Place the shaped loaf in a greased pan, cover it, and allow to rise again until nearly doubled (about another hour).
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
