Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk
- ½ cup melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup ground almonds
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- Milk (to mix for glaze)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt, then gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- Make the filling: While the dough rises, mix ground almonds and brown sugar in another bowl.
- Roll out and fill: Punch down the risen dough, roll it into a rectangle about half an inch thick, spread softened butter on top, then sprinkle with almond filling evenly.
- Shape your rolls: Roll tightly from one long side into a log shape. Cut into one-inch thick pieces and place cut-side up on greased baking sheets.
- Bake: Let them rise again for about 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for around 20 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.
