Description

Chai-Spiced Poached Pears are a delightful fusion of sweet and spicy flavors, perfect for cozy gatherings or special occasions. These tender pears are poached in a fragrant chai-infused syrup, creating an aromatic dessert that pleases the palate. Ideal served warm or chilled, this recipe is an effortless way to impress your guests and elevate any meal with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 firm Bosc or Anjou pears
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Peel the pears, keeping the stems intact, and trim the bottoms for stability.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, chai tea bags, and cinnamon stick over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and let simmer until fragrant.
  3. Gently add pears to the simmering liquid. Reduce heat to low, cover, and poach for about 20 minutes or until tender.
  4. Remove pears from pot and let cool slightly in a bowl. Continue simmering the poaching liquid uncovered until it thickens slightly.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract into the reduced syrup for extra flavor.
  6. Serve poached pears on plates drizzled with chai syrup.
