- 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Slice russet potatoes into 1/8-inch thick rounds.
- In a bowl, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then pour half of the cheese mixture over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cheese mixture.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
