  • 2 lbs starchy potatoes (Russets or Yukon Golds), sliced thin
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in half of the shredded cheese.
  4. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and sauce, topping with leftover cheese.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
