- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- ⅓ cup baking soda
- ½ cup pesto sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- ½ cup melted butter
- 3 cloves minced garlic
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and instant yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Gradually add flour and salt; knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope (20 inches) and twist into a knot shape on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bring a pot of water to boil; add baking soda carefully. Boil each knot for about 30 seconds on each side before transferring back to the baking sheet.
- Brush each knot with melted garlic butter then drizzle generously with pesto.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake knots for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
