- 1 medium butternut squash (about 2 lbs), peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 6 fresh sage leaves, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray an oven-safe baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Sauté minced garlic and chopped sage until fragrant (about 2 minutes).
- Layer half of the sliced butternut squash in the prepared baking dish. Pour half of the heavy cream mixture over it and sprinkle half of the Gruyère cheese on top.
- Repeat layering with the remaining squash, cream mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
