Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup candy melts (various colors)
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles (optional)
  • 10 lollipop sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until well mixed. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. Crumble the cooled cakes into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  5. Mix in half a cup of frosting until the mixture holds together when pressed.
  6. Shape the mixture into one-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill for at least an hour.
  7. Melt chocolate chips or candy melts as per package instructions.
  8. Dip each lollipop stick into melted chocolate before inserting it into each chilled ball. Then coat the balls in melted chocolate, tapping off excess.
  9. Decorate with sprinkles while still wet and let them set upright until firm.
