Description

Cornbread is the ultimate comfort food, combining a golden crust with a soft, fluffy interior. This quick and easy recipe creates a delightful side dish that pairs perfectly with soups, stews, or just buttered on its own. With its slightly sweet flavor and tender texture, this cornbread will have everyone at your table coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup finely ground cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until fully combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow cooling for five minutes before slicing and serving warm.
