- 28 oz crushed tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
- Cook the spaghetti in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente; reserve ½ cup pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about 5 minutes until no longer pink.
- Add the chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until translucent (about 3 minutes).
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper; let simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.
- Toss the drained spaghetti into the skillet with sauce; adjust consistency with reserved pasta water if needed. Serve hot topped with fresh basil or grated parmesan.
