Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream chilled
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries

Method
 

Prepare the Cake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
Prepare the Topping
  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  2. Once the cake is cool, spread the whipped cream evenly over the top.
  3. Arrange the sliced strawberries in the shape of the flag's stripes and place blueberries in the top left corner.
  4. Garnish with raspberries to complete the flag design.
  5. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, ripe berries. This cake is perfect for Fourth of July celebrations or any patriotic occasion.
