Ingredients

Pudding Base
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large egg yolks lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Assembly
  • 3 medium ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping

Method

Prepare the Pudding
  1. In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, flour, and salt over medium heat until combined.
  2. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to bubble.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the beaten egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  4. Allow the pudding to cool slightly.
Assemble the Banana Pudding
  1. In a serving dish, layer the vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of sliced bananas, and then a layer of pudding.
  2. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding on top.
  3. Top with whipped cream and additional banana slices if desired.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For best results, use ripe bananas and allow the pudding to chill before serving.
