Ingredients

For the Carne Asada
  • 1 pound Flank Steak or Skirt Steak
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 3 tablespoons Lime Juice freshly squeezed
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro chopped, for garnish
  • 1 medium Onion diced, for garnish
  • 8 small Corn Tortillas warmed

Method

Prepare the Marinade
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
Marinate the Steak
  1. Place the flank steak in the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
Grill the Steak
  1. Preheat the grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
Rest and Slice
  1. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Then slice it thinly against the grain.
Assemble the Tacos
  1. Place the sliced carne asada on warmed corn tortillas. Top with diced onion and chopped cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding avocado or salsa as toppings.
