Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chai spice blend can include cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or chai tea for extra flavor
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chai spice blend.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve the chai cake with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of icing for added sweetness.
