Prepare Pasta
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make Cheese Sauce
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses until melted and smooth. Add mustard powder, salt, and pepper.
Combine and Bake
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, mixing well. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs, melted butter, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the mixture over the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
