Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh peaches sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Toss to coat the peaches evenly.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the peach mixture into the baking dish. Spoon the topping mixture over the peaches evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Serve
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For best results, use ripe peaches. You can substitute with canned peaches if fresh ones are not available.
