Ingredients

Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk warm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Strawberry Swirl
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries pureed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Matcha Swirl
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water hot
Frying
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Swirls
  1. In a saucepan, combine pureed strawberries and sugar. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 10 minutes. Let cool.
  2. In a small bowl, mix matcha powder, sugar, and hot water until smooth.
Shape and Fry the Donuts
  1. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter.
  2. Using a piping bag, swirl strawberry puree and matcha mixture onto the donuts.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. Remove from oil and place on a cooling rack to drain excess oil.
Serve
  1. Serve warm and enjoy your strawberry matcha swirled yeast donuts!
