Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh peaches sliced
  • 1 cup sugar divided
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced peaches, 1/2 cup sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Toss to coat and set aside.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour the peach mixture into a baking dish. Spoon the batter over the peaches evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
Serve
  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a variation, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the peach filling or use frozen peaches when fresh ones are not available.
