Ingredients
  

For the Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes sliced thinly
  • 1 medium Yellow onion sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves minced
For the Cream Sauce
  • 2 cups Heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons Butter for greasing and sauce
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour or cornstarch for gluten-free
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
For the Cheese Topping
  • 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Slice the potatoes thinly, about 1/8 inch thick.
Layering
  1. Layer half of the potato slices in the prepared baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and half of the cheese on the first layer.
  3. Pour half of your creamy sauce over the potato layer.
  4. Repeat layers with the remaining potatoes, seasoning, cheese, and sauce.
Baking
  1. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  2. Uncover and bake for an additional 20 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  3. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley for a pop of color.
