For the Dry Rub
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar Adds sweetness and caramelization
  • 1 tbsp Paprika Gives rich color and subtle smokiness

  • 1 tbsp Onion powder Complements garlic with sweet and savory taste
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper Adjust to preference for spice
For the Sauce (Optional)
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce Use favorite store-bought or homemade

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. Rub your favorite barbecue spice mix over both sides of the ribs. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your smoker to a steady temperature of 225°F.
Cooking
  1. Lay the seasoned ribs in the smoker bone-side down. Close the lid and let them cook for about 5-6 hours.
  2. After 4 hours, start checking for tenderness using a toothpick.
  3. Brush your favorite barbecue sauce on the ribs during the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
  4. Once done, remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for about 10-15 minutes under foil.

Notes
