For the Macaroni and Cheese
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni classic choice
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese can mix with other cheeses
  • 1 cup milk use whole milk for best results
  • 1/2 cup butter essential for creamy texture

Preparation
  1. Gather your ingredients, ensuring you have fresh, quality items.
  2. Wash and chop the collard greens thoroughly. Sauté them in a large pot with olive oil and garlic until vibrant green and tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and spices. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry the marinated chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes per side.
  2. In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, milk, eggs, and melted butter until just combined. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. Pour the cornbread batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
