For the Cake
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour do not substitute with whole wheat
  • 1 cup sugar adds sweetness
  • 1 tbsp baking powder ensure it's fresh
  • 1/4 tsp salt balances sweetness
  • 5 large eggs room temperature for better whipping
  • 1 cup milk can use whole or non-dairy alternative
For the Tres Leches Mixture
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk provides sweetness
  • 1 can evaporated milk adds richness
  • 1 cup whole milk can substitute with coconut milk
For Whipped Topping
  • 1 cup heavy cream for a light topping
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract enhances flavors

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Gently fold the egg mixture into the flour mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cake completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  8. Prepare the milk mixture by whisking together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.
  9. Poke holes in the cooled cake using a fork or skewer to allow the milks to seep in.
