Ingredients

Burger Patties
  • 2 cups zucchini, grated excess moisture squeezed out
  • 1 cup ground beef or plant-based alternative
  • 1 large egg to bind
  • 1 cup bread crumbs for texture
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
  • 4 slices cheese your choice
  • 4 buns burger buns toasted
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 medium tomato sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickles sliced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard

Method

Prepare the Patties
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine grated zucchini, ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
Cook the Burgers
  1. Preheat a griddle over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the griddle and smash them down with a spatula to create a crispy edge.
  2. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and add cheese slices on top. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked through.
Assemble the Burgers
  1. Toast the burger buns on the griddle. Place the cooked patties on the bottom half of each bun.
  2. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with a plant-based meat alternative.
