- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Zest of 2 lemons
- 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in melted butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and half of the flour until mixed.
- Gradually add remaining flour while kneading on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle more sugar and lemon zest.
- Roll tightly from one long side, slice into 1-inch pieces, and place in a greased dish to rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
